Faux & Dummy Wedding Cakes for Hire
Imitation wedding cakes that look exactly like the real thing!
LIf you love the look of a big wedding cake but don't want the cost or the waste of the real thing, a faux cake could be just what you need. I hire out dummy wedding cakes across Kent and London, decorated to look exactly like the real thing, so you get all the drama of a showpiece cake without every guest needing a slice.
What a faux cake actually is
A faux cake is made from styrofoam and decorated just like a real one, covered in proper fondant or faux buttercream and finished with sugar flowers, silk flowers, or fresh flowers from your own florist. From a step back, and in your photos, you genuinely can't tell it isn't real.
They work brilliantly for hot venues, marquees and outdoor summer weddings, where a real cake can struggle in the heat. And because it's on display all day rather than being cut up early, your cake looks perfect from the ceremony right through to the last dance.
The cutting slice
If you still want that cake-cutting photo, I can add a hidden wedge of real cake into the faux cake for you to cut into on the day. I can also provide a plain kitchen cutting cake to serve to your guests behind the scenes, so everyone still gets a piece.
How hire works
Hire costs run from £250 to £350 depending on the number of tiers. I take a refundable bond (the replacement value of the cake), returned in full once it's back safely, and the balance is due four weeks before your date. The cake is with you for two to three days: delivery, your wedding day, and collection the day after.
Would a real cake actually suit you better?
Here's an honest thought before you decide. A lot of people look at faux cakes because they assume a real bespoke cake is out of their budget, and often it isn't. My real wedding cakes may cost less than you'd expect, and you'd get something made just for you, that tastes as good as it looks. So if a real cake was your first choice, it's worth asking me for a quote before you settle on faux. Either way, I'm happy to help.
